Five evaluation-board MCUs and 3 lakh production MCUs a year are two different purchases, even when the part number is identical. The first needs a searchable catalogue and quick dispatch. The second needs a distributor that will take a forecast, hold allocation, pass on change notices and stand behind the lot when something goes wrong. Few companies are best at both, which is why an Indian OEM or EMS team usually ends up working with more than one.
This article lists twelve distributors that a buyer in India can approach for semiconductors and ICs. It is not a ranking. Each name is here because, on 22 October 2026, we could confirm on the company's own website, or on a semiconductor manufacturer's official distributor locator, that it has an Indian office, an Indian legal entity or an India-facing sales channel. We have stated what we confirmed and where. A name on this page is a starting point for an RFQ, not an approval.
forUdyog keeps its own directory of component distributors, along with reference lists of the top 50 global distributors and the top 50 APAC distributors. Use those for breadth; use this page to understand how the main India-facing models differ.
How the twelve were chosen
We applied three tests. The company had to describe itself as an electronic component distributor. Its own site, or a manufacturer's locator, had to show an Indian office, entity or ordering route. And it had to serve professional buyers, not only hobby retail.
A useful cross-check is the Renesas distributor locator for India, which on our check date named Avnet, DigiKey, element14, Future Electronics, Macnica Cytech, Millennium Semiconductors, Mouser, Rabyte, Rochester Electronics, SM Electronic Technologies and WT Microelectronics among its channels for India. Texas Instruments' authorised-distributor page names Arrow (all regions except Japan), DigiKey, Mouser and Macnica, with Rochester as an additional channel for obsolete or surplus TI parts. Those two pages confirm authorisation for those two manufacturers only. Every other franchise has to be checked line by line.
Several names in older drafts of this list were dropped because we could not confirm an India office or channel on their own sites when we checked. That does not mean they cannot serve India; it means you should ask them directly.
Broadline distributors for planned production
Arrow Electronics
Arrow's office directory lists Arrow Electronics India Private Ltd with an electronic-components office in Bengaluru (checked October 2026). It is a TI-authorised channel outside Japan. Arrow suits BOMs where the conversation spans semiconductors, interconnect and passives together with engineering support. Ask which Arrow entity will invoice, which warehouse will ship, and whether quoted stock is franchised for India.
Avnet
Avnet's Asia Pacific locations page lists Indian offices in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad (checked October 2026). It is a fit for programmes moving from development platforms into scheduled production. element14, listed separately below, is an Avnet company but runs a catalogue model, so treat the two as different channels with different terms.
WT Microelectronics (including Future Electronics)
WT's site lists an Indian entity in Bengaluru and offices in New Delhi and Pune, and the Renesas locator lists WT's Bengaluru, New Delhi and Pune offices as an India distributor (both checked October 2026). WT completed its purchase of Future Electronics on 2 April 2024, so we treat them as one group here. If you already buy from Future, ask which entity now contracts, and whether quality escalation still runs through the same team.
Catalogue distributors for prototypes and mixed BOMs
DigiKey
DigiKey's India site offers rupee pricing and, on our check date, stated that DigiKey has partnered with AqTronics to give customers in India a simpler checkout. It also marks Marketplace items from partner suppliers separately from DigiKey's own stock. Read which kind of line you are buying before you treat it as factory-direct.
Mouser Electronics
Mouser India lists a Bengaluru customer-service office run by Mouser Electronics India Pvt. Ltd. (checked October 2026), and Mouser states that the products it sells are obtained directly from manufacturers or their authorised channels. It is strong for new products and engineering samples. For a production BOM, ask for a formal quote with stock location and lead time beyond displayed inventory.
element14 India
The India site is operated by element14 India Private Limited, with a registered office in Bengaluru (checked October 2026). The catalogue mixes components with development kits, test equipment and tools, which helps a design lab that wants one account. Ask whether a given line ships from India or from a regional warehouse.
RS India
RS's India channel is run by RS Components & Controls (India) Ltd, headquartered in Noida (checked October 2026). Its range runs well beyond semiconductors into automation, electrical and maintenance products. That breadth is useful for factories, but check each semiconductor line for manufacturer and lifecycle as you would anywhere else.
Regional technical distributors
Macnica Cytech
Macnica's own locations page for Macnica Cytech lists Indian offices including Bengaluru, Pune and Noida, all sharing a Bengaluru sales and support number (checked October 2026). Renesas lists Macnica Cytech's Bengaluru office as an India distributor. The model leans on field application engineers, which matters for FPGAs, connectivity and analogue designs.
Millennium Semiconductors
Millennium Semiconductors India Pvt. Ltd. is based in Pimpri, Pune, and appears on the Renesas India locator. It publishes manufacturer-specific line-card pages, such as its e-peas page. A per-brand page is better evidence than a logo strip, but still confirm on the manufacturer's site.
Rabyte
Rabyte's contact page lists Rabyte Edge Private Limited in Noida, with branches in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune (checked October 2026). Renesas lists Rabyte as a distributor for India and South-East Asia. Ask Rabyte for authorisation evidence covering each brand on your BOM, not only its general line card.
SM Electronic Technologies
SM Electronic Technologies Pvt. Ltd. has its head office in Bengaluru and lists branches in New Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmedabad (checked October 2026). It appears on the Renesas India locator, and its own site describes it as an authorised channel partner for Mouser in India. If you buy a Mouser line through SMET, confirm which company is the seller of record.
Authorised aftermarket for end-of-life parts
Rochester Electronics
Rochester is not a normal broadline distributor. It describes itself as a manufacturer-authorised stocking distributor for mature, discontinued and overstock semiconductors, and its shipping policy excludes nine destinations, none of them India (checked October 2026). TI names Rochester for obsolete or surplus TI parts and notes that different warranty terms may apply. When a manufacturer points you to Rochester for a last-time-buy gap, that is a far safer route than a broker.
Match the distributor to the build stage
| Stage | What the channel must offer | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Bench evaluation | Small quantities, datasheets, eval boards | Is this the exact grade we will build with? |
| EVT and DVT | Mixed BOM, cut tape, fast dispatch | Will later lots come from the same source? |
| Pilot run | Lot control, scheduled delivery | Who owns excess if the design changes? |
| Volume | Forecasts, allocation, credit terms | What factory commitment backs the schedule? |
| Service and EOL | Lifecycle data, aftermarket access | Is the material authorised and warranted? |
A catalogue order can prove a design while the production distributor is still negotiating a forecast. Record both routes in the sourcing plan instead of expecting one company to play every role.
Verify the franchise for each line
Authorisation belongs to a manufacturer, a product family and a territory. It is not a permanent badge for the whole company. For each critical BOM line:
- Search the manufacturer's official distributor locator for India.
- Match the exact legal or trading entity on your quote, not a similar name.
- Confirm the product family and territory in writing.
- Ask whether the quoted stock came directly from that manufacturer or its authorised chain.
- Record any exception, such as an independent or marketplace source, before the PO is approved.
Our guide on verifying an authorised distributor covers these checks in detail, and authorised versus independent distributors explains what changes when stock comes from outside the franchise.
Send one RFQ and compare like with like
Give every candidate the same clean BOM: full manufacturer part numbers, quantities, build schedule, delivery site and approved alternates. Ask each to return, per line:
- Authorisation status and the upstream source of the stock
- Quantity available, stock location, date and lot code, packaging
- Factory lead time and how long the quote is valid
- MOQ, standard pack and any NCNR or cancellation terms
- Lifecycle status and how PCNs and EOL notices reach you
- Certificate of conformance and traceability documents supplied
- Incoterm, freight, duty, GST treatment and importer of record
- Warranty, return and failure-analysis route
- Support for scheduled orders or buffer stock against a forecast
Score technical and commercial fit separately. An illustrative case: a part listed at ₹180 from an overseas catalogue may cost more than a ₹195 local quote once freight, an oversize reel and clearance charges are added. Divide the total by the quantity you will actually use before deciding.
Signs a quote needs another look
Stop and ask questions when the quoted part number differs from the BOM, when "authorised" is claimed without naming the manufacturer, or when the stock location is withheld. The same applies to mixed date codes without notice, an unusually short lead time on a part that is on allocation, or a bank account that does not match the contracting entity. None of these proves wrongdoing. Each one blocks an informed approval until it is explained.
For critical lines, ask each finalist to name an account owner, an application engineer and a quality contact. A generic support mailbox is not a continuity plan when allocation tightens.
Where forUdyog fits
Distributors cover the catalogue part of a BOM. The rest, such as PCBs, cable assemblies, enclosures and locally made passives, needs manufacturers. forUdyog's electronics categories help you find those suppliers, and you can describe a requirement on the QUICK RFQ page. Run the same authorisation and quality checks on every supplier, however you found it. For buying in small quantities online, see our companion piece on online electronic component stores in India.
