Taparia Tools began making hand tools in India in 1969, in technical collaboration with a Swedish company. Its senior management trained at the Swedish plant, and a Swedish technical manager spent about two years in India setting up the technology. The company says it has fully absorbed that production technology.
The company has factories at Nashik, about 190 km from Mumbai, and at Goa, about 600 km from Mumbai. Its facilities include a forge shop, machine shop, heat treatment, polishing and nickel-chrome plating. A design and development department with CAD designs forging dies, machining fixtures and cutting tools such as broaches. A quality assurance department and laboratory test raw materials through to finished products.
Taparia says its tools meet Indian, British and German standards and, in some cases, exceed U.S. Federal Specifications for hardness and torque value. It has over 800 distributors across India. It has exported to countries including the U.K., U.S.A., Germany, Sweden, Dubai and Sri Lanka for more than 25 years. The company states it has received export excellence awards in many years from 1977-78 to 2006-07.
